Using it

Does it work without a handle?

Yes. That's the point. With no handle between you and the ice, your body weight drives the 18-inch blade, not your wrist.

Can I use it on paint?

Use the Rubber Snow Plow for loose snow on any vehicle surface. It's rubber and paint-friendly. The three hard blades are for glass and ice only, so keep them off paint.

How do I hold it?

At a 15–35° angle against the glass, with your hands in a claw grip on the side that isn't clearing, about shoulder-width apart. See all four holds.

What order should I clear the car in?

Top down, working side to side. Start at the roof line, then the windshield, so gravity helps carry the snow down and away. Loose snow comes off first, then the blades clear the glass. Clear the whole car before you drive.

What are the textured corner pads for?

Leverage pads. When thick ice is tough to push, dig the blade into the ice, then put your thumbs and the heels of your palms behind the pads for extra pushing power.

What's the Wiper Blade Clearing Groove?

The small V-notch at the center of the back edge. It clears frozen wiper blades.

What are the Ice Scoring Teeth for?

They score thick ice. Every unit has them.

How big is it, and where does it go in the car?

18 by 14 inches, 0.75 inch deep, 1.23 lb. It stows flat or upright.

Does it work on SUVs and trucks?

On taller vehicles, use the Extended Reach Hold. It turns a 14-inch side blade to the front for tough-to-reach spots and tighter spaces.

Will it reach across my car?

You only need to reach the center line. Clear one half from each side of the car. For extra reach, turn The EDGE so a 14-inch Extended Reach Blade leads. That gives you about 4 more inches. Here's an honest guide if clearing snow is the main job you want it for. Below about these heights, you may not reach every inch of the roof and glass with The EDGE alone:

  • Sedan: 5 ft 3 in
  • Crossover: 5 ft 5 in
  • SUV: 5 ft 7 in

Heavy-duty and lifted trucks are a stretch too, unless they have running boards to stand on.

“The Edge is a great help to shorter people who have trouble cleaning large areas of snow and ice.”

What does "4× more removal per pass" mean?

The blade is 18 inches wide, against a 4-inch scraper blade. So each pass moves about 4× the width.

Can one pass clear my windshield?

One pass leaves an 18-inch band, not a clear car. When we say CLEAR, we mean the whole car: all the loose snow and ice off, and every window scraped, before you hit the road.

Guarantee

What's covered by the 5-year guarantee?

The unit. The 5-year Performance Guarantee covers The EDGE itself. Read the terms.

Does the guarantee cover printed designs?

No. The guarantee covers the unit, not the printed art.

Is The EDGE patented?

Yes. It holds utility and design patents.

Is The EDGE the same as the Snow Joe Edge?

No. The EDGE is a flat 18-by-14-inch clearing tool with no handle, made by Evolvent Market Products Inc. The Snow Joe Edge is a handheld ice scraper made by Snow Joe.

6×6 in or 8×8 in, same price. Full-color branding is included.

Can we cancel?

Yes, until printing starts. If you cancel before you approve the proof, the $455 deposit is fully refundable.
